With a reputation as a formidable test, The Cardinal offers some of the most rewarding play in Greensboro. Its modern, 140-acre layout designed by Pete Dye is a par-70 that meanders along a countryside stream, over two lakes and through wooded glades. A number of holes feature Dye’s signature railroad ties including number 12, as he called it after the restoration, “the hardest par three I ever designed.”
Originally known as Cardinal Golf and Country Club, the course was restored to its original layout and lengthened in 2006 when brought under McConnell Golf ownership. In February 2019, McConnell Golf announced the club’s transition to semi-private.
The Cardinal’s Junior Golf program offers camps and clinics throughout the year, as well as an interactive summer program in which golfers keep up their practice and playing regimen for a prize! Watch your youngsters grow over time and test your skills as a team each year at the parent-child tournament. The ever-adapting program continues to grow as tomorrow’s golfers graduate from fundamentals to a pure love of the game.
At The Cardinal, opportunities to improve one’s game are a big part of the pure golf experience – and our comprehensive practice facility with golf course simulated situations is paramount.
Beyond camps, clinics and tournament play throughout the year, expert personal instruction from our Class A PGA Professionals is an effective way to expose and correct problematic techniques or even get back to fundamentals.
