Zack Sucher defends his Cardinal Amateur title

 

Zack Sucher, a rising senior at University Alabama-Birmingham, fired a final round 68 (-2) to capture the 30th Cardinal Amateur Golf Tournament with a two under par total. Sucher opened with a first round 73 leaving him six strokes behind the lead but fought back with rounds of 67-68 to successfully defend his title. Second round leader Reed Darsie finished in a tie for second at one over par with Dustin Groves, and Nicolas Geyger.   

 

The 2008 Cardinal Amateur Championship is being played on the par 70 - 7002 yard Pete Dye re-designed Cardinal Golf and Country Club inGreensboro, NC. This is the only the second time in the thirty year history of the event that a champion has successfully defended the title.
