The Cardinal Golf & Country Club is now under the umbrella of McConnell Golf Properties which includes Raleigh Country Club (Donald Ross), Raleigh, NC, and Treyburn Country Club (Tom Fazio), Durham, NC.
Original architect Pete Dye returned to the Cardinal in 2006, to totally redesign the course, including greens, tees and bunkers. Therefore, contestants this year will be treated to an almost totally new venue. Pete Dye decided the greens would be A-4 bent grass with the bunker surrounds in zoysia for contrast. The yardage is 7002 yards and plays to a par of 70.
